London Craft Week 2022

Weaving Hope
The inaugural Malaysia Pavilion at London Craft Week in 2022 presented Weaving Hope, an exhibition spotlighting the Royal Pahang Weave, a heritage silk-weaving tradition revitalised under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Azizah of Pahang, Malaysia. The programme highlighted Malaysia’s prison rehabilitation initiative, featured live demonstrations by a master weaver on a traditional Malay loom, and hosted a high-level roundtable on craft and social responsibility.
The exhibition was held at the High Commission of Malaysia in Belgravia and designed by Judith Clark Studio. The Pavilion welcomed distinguished visitors including HRH Princess Anne, HRH the Duchess of Gloucester, and the Prime Minister of Malaysia, underscoring its cultural and diplomatic significance. By placing Malaysia’s craft heritage on this international stage, the exhibition successfully connected tradition with contemporary global audiences.
