About Us

Pink Jambu

Pink Jambu has continuously defined heritage fabrics as modern luxury since its founding in 1992. Inspired by the relaxed Malaysian lifestyle and refined by a global mindset, the House transforms traditional craft into contemporary elegance.

Pink Jambu’s signature batik fabrics are crafted entirely by hand using the ancient wax-resist dyeing technique. Melted wax is first applied to the fabric, followed by the careful application of dyes with a brush. Only the finest silks and cottons sourced from around the world are used.

Applying its savoir-faire to noble materials, the House creates objets d’art—each piece of fabric is one-of-a-kind, conceived as heirlooms for this generation and the next.

Guided by a philosophy of timeless luxury, effortless chic, and classicism, Pink Jambu also offers a carefully curated range of fashion and lifestyle collections.

Royal Pahang Weave by Cheminahsayang

Pink Jambu is also the primary retailer of the exquisite Royal Pahang Weave, a thousand-year-old heritage textile from the Malaysian sultanate of Pahang. Revitalised under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Azizah of Pahang, this fabric—locally known as tenun, meaning “to weave”—has a rich history and is used as formal wear in the Malaysian royal court. Our weavers continue to employ traditional techniques of processing, dyeing, and weaving, which can take up to two months to produce a single sheet of fabric.

Our Founder

Tengku Marina Tengku Ibrahim is a Malaysian designer and entrepreneur celebrated for her innovative contributions to contemporary batik. In 1992, she founded Pink Jambu, a luxury batik design house in Kuala Lumpur, renowned for blending traditional techniques with modern design to create one-of-a-kind textile pieces.

Trained in three-dimensional design at Kingston Polytechnic in the UK, Marina returned to Malaysia at 22 to establish Pink Jambu, which quickly became a society favourite. The brand marked its 30th anniversary in 2022, celebrating three decades of modern batik in Malaysia’s luxury textile scene.

An accomplished artist, Marina has held multiple solo exhibitions, including Alive at PINKGUY Gallery in 2015 and Pahang in Nature, which headlined the inauguration of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Kuantan in 2023. She also serves as a Trustee of the Royal Pahang Weave Foundation, contributing to the promotion of Malaysian crafts locally and internationally.
